A new centre to inspire environmental learning.
Over the last 40 years Sussex Wildlife Trust has introduced thousands of children to the wonders of nature through highly regarded education and learning programmes held at Woods Mill and Seven Sisters. More than 10,000 children each year are introduced to the joys of nature by Sussex Wildlife Trust’s teaching staff and are encouraged to value their environment and learn how to conserve it for the future.

The Trust’s education programme is essential if children and young people are to play an active part in conservation now and in the future.
SWT is embarking on a major project to build a new education centre at Woods Mill. ‘Gateway to Nature’ will give the Trust much better facilities so that it can host larger groups and run education programmes all year round. The new centre will also improve opportunities for all age groups to learn about the natural world and how their individual contribution can make a real and lasting difference.
‘Gateway to Nature’ will be built on green principles from sustainable timber. The plans include a woodchip fuelled boiler to provide low cost heating whilst at the same time encouraging sustainable fuel production.
