This Local Nature Reserve is set in the middle
of the much larger Ashdown Forest. Heathland, acidic ponds and wonderful
views across the Forest.
What you can see acid water-loving dragonflies; nightjar, redstart, woodcock, tree pipit,
stonechat and adder. Getting aroundThe reserve is on the west side of the B2026 between Maresfield and Hartfield, about a third of a mile north of the junction with the B2188
at Kings Standing. Access is directly from the small car park. There is a well-marked nature trail which leads around most of the reserve. There are steep slopes and wide unsurfaced paths and steps at the entrance to this 76 hectare nature reserve.
