Join Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) this November and find out about the wonderful, winter wildlife on your doorstep in West Sussex
On Saturday 17 November learn how to identify wildfowl and waders on a one-day workshop at Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve. From dunlins to brent geese, pintails to turnstones discover more about the over-wintering birds found on the reserve.
Our Winter Bird Search continues on Monday 19 November at West Dean Woods near Chichester and Amberley Wildbrooks near Pulborough. Enjoy a walk around the woods and farms at West Dean looking out for finches and yellowhammers, followed by a stroll on Amberley Wildbrooks looking for Bewick’s swans and barn owls.
Although the leaves have fallen off the trees there is still much to be seen on our Winter Tree Identification course. This one-day course on Sunday 18 November at Amberley Village Hall, looks at the shape of trees and how they fit into the landscape, so come and learn how to identify a field maple from a sycamore or an oak from a cherry in the depths of winter.
SWT’s one-day courses on Winter Tree Identification and Winter Bird Searches run from 10:00-16:00. The cost per course for members and concessions is £22.50 and non-members £30.
