Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) is running an exciting and fun-packed summer of activities in Stanmer Park, Brighton and Seven Sisters Country Park (SSCP) near Seaford. From Thursday throughout August at Stanmer Park, and every Monday and Thursday at SSCP, the Trust’s Children’s Summer Holiday Club offers environmentally themed activity days designed to keep youngsters busy and happy during the school summer holidays.
At Stanmer Park near Brighton, activities include minibeast hunts during Bugs & Beasties (2 August) and learning survival and woodland skills on I’m a Survivor (9 August). Later sessions include sculpture making using natural materials (23 August) and getting to know more about plants and trees during Woodland Wonders (16 August).
On the SSCP Holiday Club set up camp in the forest and learn how to build a fire and cook your own food during Castaways (2 August). Find out how good you are at spotting animals following tracks and trails through Friston Forest (30 July, 13 August). As well as minibeast hunts, there’s also the opportunity for rockpooling and beachcombing along the shoreline at Seven Sisters (6, 16 & 23 August).
The Children’s Summer Holiday Club is suitable for 6-11 year olds and runs between 10:30-14:30. Children do not need to be accompanied by adults but please supply a packed lunch, drink and all weather clothing.
Cost for members: £7.50 per session and non-members: £10.00 per session.
SWT’s Summer Holiday Club can only cater for limited numbers of youngsters so it is essential to reserve your place by telephoning 01273 497561.
