On Saturday 30 June join Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) and discover Shoreham Beach Local Nature Reserve.
Created by longshore drift, Shoreham’s shingle spit was recently designated a Site of Nature Conservation Importance as it supports large areas of vegetated shingle - an extremely rare and fragile habitat. Learn how the beach’s special shingle flora - such as sea campion, yellow horned poppy and viper’s bugloss - have been able to adapt to the harsh environmental conditions and physical forces that shape the beach.
This course provides an introduction to this important shingle site and gives an overview of its terrestrial wildlife visitors. There’s also the opportunity to find out about life off the Sussex coast from the tantalising clues washed up everyday on the shoreline on Shoreham Beach.
This is a one day course running from 10:00-16:00 involving indoor and outdoor sessions. Meeting point to be confirmed on booking.
Nearest bus route in Shoreham High Street (then walk over footbridge).
Cost for members/concessions: £22.50. Non-members £30.
Booking essential please ring Filma Dyer on 01273 497561.
