The Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) has received an award at this year’s Sussex Education Business Alliance (SEBA) Excellence in Partnership Awards. The Business Partnership Award was awarded to Mike Murphy, the Trust’s Education Development Officer, for his INSET training day at Seven Sisters Country Park.
SEBA’s Excellence in Partnership Awards recognise and celebrate good practice across Sussex in collaborative work between businesses and education institutions. Mike was nominated by SEBA for a significant contribution to local partnership activity.
He hosted and part-taught the INSET day hosted by Sussex Careers Ltd for twelve secondary school teachers from East Sussex and Brighton & Hove. His training day covered health and safety issues when planning fieldwork, a geology session for geographers and a rocky shore ecology session for science teachers along the shoreline at Seven Sisters.
Mike said ‘I’m delighted to accept this on behalf of the Trust. Our professional development courses - such as the INSET day at Seven Sisters – are an important and successful part of the Trust’s education activities which we will continue to develop.’
The Sussex Wildlife Trust has a strong educational programme. In addition to hosting school visits and professional development courses at Woods Mill near Henfield and Seven Sisters Country Park, SWT runs Outreach, a project designed to take environmental education direct into schools across the county.
