The Sussex Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading conservation charity. We are always interested to hear from people who are qualified Forest School Leaders or Bush-craft trained to help with the planning and delivering of forest school programmes to various user groups such as schools, community groups, home educators etc, in outdoor locations across Sussex.
Forest School Leaders must have relevant skills, experience and qualifications in the following areas:-
- Experience in working with children in delivering environmental education
- Forest School Leader Award (Level 3) or equivalent bush-craft qualification
- Good environmental knowledge
- An ability to communicate effectively with children and teachers
- A knowledge and understanding of woodland ecology and landscape history
- An understanding of relevant H&S issues
If you meet the above criteria and would be interested in working for the Trust, please contact one of the following people for an informal chat prior to sending in your application.
Mike Murphy – 01323 871328
Katie Riley – 01273 497513
We would ask that you do not contact us regarding these paid positions if you do not meet the above criteria, as we will be unable to consider your application. However, if you are undergoing level 3 training and need to gain experience to qualify, then please contact either Mike or Katie to discuss possible volunteering opportunities.
For those who do not have/are not working towards the Forest School Leader Award, we may have other opportunities that arise within the Trust that are more suited to your particular skills and experience. All our vacancies are advertised on the website so we would recommend that you visit the site on a regular basis to see whether there are any that are of interest to you.
In the meantime should you be interested in any volunteering opportunities within the Trust, please see our volunteering section or contact Gemma Harding, Volunteer & Personnel Administrator, on 01273 497562.
Many thanks
