Conserve our current wildlife and wild places
Our priority must be to conserve and enhance the diversity of wildlife and the wild places we enjoy today, establishing wildlife-rich areas to provide the seed corn for future expansion into the wider landscape.
A key factor is to identify those species which will be most under threat and provide the necessary conditions for them to adapt and evolve. We have a major part to play in the future of Sussex habitats and species and the importance of conserving current high quality wildlife sites cannot be overemphasised.
Changing climate may cause animals and plants to move location in order to survive, possibly resulting in today’s rare species becoming more commonplace and the familiar less prominent.
